Terms of Service

Welcome to The Mirror Project. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What The Mirror Project is — and is not

The Mirror Project is a self-reflection tool. Mira is a conversational assistant designed to help you notice patterns, process your thoughts, and reflect on your own life. Mira is not a therapist, psychologist, physician, or other licensed professional. The Service is not therapy, medical care, mental-health treatment, diagnosis, legal advice, financial advice, or emergency support.

If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately. Do not rely on the Service in an emergency.

2. Your account

• You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (and at least 13).
• You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your credentials confidential, and for all activity that happens under your account.
• Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm any person, or to submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes others' rights.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or overwhelm the Service, or to bypass usage limits, security, or authentication.
• Use the Service to generate content that violates any applicable law or the terms of our upstream AI providers.
• Impersonate anyone, or share access to your account with others as if it were their own.

4. AI limitations

Mira's responses are generated by AI. They may be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, or otherwise unsuitable. Do not rely on them as professional advice. Always use your own judgment, and consult a qualified professional for medical, legal, financial, or mental-health decisions.

5. Subscriptions, billing & renewal

• The Mirror Project offers a Free plan and a paid Premium plan.
• Premium is billed at the price displayed at checkout (currently $20 USD per month) and automatically renews every month at the same price until you cancel.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout.
• You can cancel any time from Settings → Billing → Manage billing. When you cancel, your Premium access continues until the end of the current paid period; you will not be charged again unless you resubscribe.

6. Refunds

Because Premium is a recurring monthly subscription that you can cancel at any time, we generally do not offer refunds for the current period once it has started. We may issue a refund at our discretion (for example, for accidental duplicate charges or a clear billing error). If a refund is issued, your Premium access ends immediately upon refund.

7. Your content

Everything you write in the Service — journal entries, check-ins, reflections, conversations with Mira, feedback — is yours. You retain ownership of your content.

To operate the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, back up, and process your content strictly for the purpose of providing the Service to you (including sending relevant content to AI providers to generate Mira's replies). We do not use your private writing to train third-party AI models and we do not sell your content.

8. Our intellectual property

The Service, including the name "The Mirror Project", the "Mira" persona, the visual design, the code, and all associated materials, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service except as permitted by law.

9. Service availability

We work hard to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. When feasible, we will notify Premium members of material changes that affect their subscription.

10. Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE MIRROR PROJECT AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from Settings → Data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that abuse the Service, or where required by law. When you delete your account, we handle your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located in Burlington County, New Jersey, unless applicable consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring a claim in your place of residence.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and surface the change in the app. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
